Purple Cactus Strain Genetics

Purple Cactus, as the name may suggest to the seasoned veteran, is a combination of the busy genetics of Purple Hulk (Double Purple Doja x Purple Diesel x 501st OG x Platinum) and the classic heritage of Cactus (Afghani x Northern Lights), a strain known by many pseudonyms (Cactus Breath, Cactus OG, Cactus Kush, etc.).

The Kush and Diesel strains blend with the rich Afghan lineage to create an intriguing juxtaposition of the past and present of the cannabis seeds world, combining together to create an utterly enthralling marijuana strain with growing traits, flavours, and effects that bring together the best branches of the extensive family tree.

Purple Cactus Strain Terpene Profile

The dominant terpene in this indica Cactus x Purple Hulk strain is myrcene, the classic herbal terpene responsible for that oh so familiar scent that drifts temptingly on the breeze, a nod to the Afghani, Skunk, and OG Kush genetics. That’s far from all you´ll experience here, though.

On the inhale, you’ll notice a spicy tickle, a touch of petrol to it, like the Chemdawg grandparents. This is the result of another abundant terpene, caryophyllene. Above this, there is also a calming touch of the floral, again with a bit of spice to it, due to the presence of terpinolene (also found in cumin, lilacs, and nutmeg). Quite the varied combination, all working together to create an exquisite flavour.

Purple Cactus Strain Effects

The main effect of this marijuana strain, and certainly the first one you’re likely to notice, is a calm, chill vibe that takes over both body and mind. While this is a pleasing and classic sensation, it’s only the beginning of the nuanced high that is to come.

The potent THC content (tipping over 22%) ensures that the effects are powerful here, but they’re not all sedating. There’s an uplifting, euphoric vibe that comes from those classic strains in the heritage. Reminiscent of the free-loving Woodstock generation, these effects add a happy, talkative, and immensely giggly period following the initial relaxing sensation.

Purple Cactus Strain Medical Benefits

There are a fair few potential Purple Cactus medical benefits, starting with the possible relief of joint pain associated with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia. This is thought to be due to the high levels of both THC and caryophyllene and the effects this cannabinoid and terp combination has on the body’s endocannabinoid system.

This cannabis strain may also aid with getting to sleep, even with those living with insomnia. With the potential to increase the body’s ability to both fall asleep and stay asleep, the terpenes and THC within this strain could be of real assistance to those struggling with this debilitating issue.

How to Grow Purple Cactus Strain Seeds

With a flowering time of as little as eight weeks from germination in some cases, indoor growers shouldn’t have to wait long to reap the rewards of these marijuana seeds and shouldn’t have to work hard either! Sure, the odd trim, occasional light changes, absolutely, but that’s about all there is to it.

Outdoor growers of these regular seeds (autoflowering and feminized seeds not yet available) have a little more to be aware of, these plants don’t like the cold, so outside of hot climates (even in early winter), a greenhouse is recommended for best results. These fairly sturdy plants should thrive, with thick branches that battle mould and mites well.

Around late September or nearly October, harvest time should announce itself with a beautiful floral bouquet, complete with a hint of spice. Expect high yields both inside and out here, with the buds coloured in an eye-catching purple with a coating of trichomes to add a shimmer to proceedings!
