While growing marijuana using regular cannabis seeds can require quite a bit of time, knowledge and patience, feminized seeds are far simpler to manage compared to traditional cannabis seeds and offer a gateway into cannabis cultivation for those with little or no cannabis growing experience.

When growing cannabis using regular cannabis seeds, it is vital to identify the different sexes and remove the male plants early in the blooming period. This is because male cannabis plants don’t produce the buds that are used both recreationally and medically. Failure to do this correctly can destroy a batch of cannabis. 

Germinating Feminized Marijuana seeds

However, feminized cannabis seeds are bred to produce only female plants, so every plant grown from that seed will flower as a female. While the flowering time of the feminized seeds is much the same as the regular seeds, the final crop will yield bigger and more potent buds with a high THC level. As such, feminized marijuana seeds are highly advantageous for growers under artificial lighting, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Feminized seeds will typically produce about 95% female cannabis plants compared to just 50% when using regular cannabis seeds. In addition, the female plants produce buds that typically offer a higher THC level and given how easy to grow these female seeds are, many growers have now switched from traditional cannabis seeds to feminized cannabis seeds..
