Chocolope Strain Genetics
A legendary creation of DNA Genetics, Chocolope is a cross between long-standing and highly flavourful fan-favourite Chocolate Thai and tropical delight, Cannalope Haze. The result of this spectacular crossing is a highly energising sativa-dominant hybrid that has gone on to earn a special place in the hearts of those in the cannabis community.
And don’t take our word for it, Chocolope has earned several cannabis cup awards and even featured on the cover of the legendary High Times magazine, claiming their strain of the year for 2007.
Chocolope Strain Terpene Profile
Cannabinoid and terpene analysis has revealed the presence of three primary terpenes in the Chocolope strain, namely myrcene, humulene and caryophyllene.
This blend of terpenes helps to contribute to the truly unique flavour profile offered up by this cannabis all-star. With an aroma that is reminiscent of both chocolate and coffee with hints of vanilla, Chocolope has also inherited an earthy fragrance from its impressive genetics.
While the aroma is a delight, the flavour of this sativa dominator is even more impressive with all of the flavours mentioned above melding together to offer a sweet and exciting experience that will satisfy even the fussiest of cannabis flavour chasers.
Chocolope Strain Effects
As you might expect from a sativa-dominant strain, Chocolope provides a truly energising and motivational high, ideal for those with creative endeavours to undertake or for those looking for a little extra inspiration to get through the more monotonous daily tasks. Vac and bake anyone?
Offering highly cerebral effects, Chocolope is not intensely potent, and the effects are not considered overly psychoactive or physically sedating, making this strain an ideal choice for daytime or everyday usage. With energising and motivating effects, this strain is not the best choice if you’re looking to unwind or get some shut-eye but is good for those seeking an increase in focus and attention.
THC levels average around 18% putting this strain in the mid to high category of high THC strains that while potent, is not quite as powerful as some of the newer cannabis hybrids on offer today with some users reporting a high that is not as long-lasting as those more potent varieties.
Medical Benefits Chocolope Strain
Like many other pure sativa strains, Chocolope offers potential medical value for those suffering from mental health conditions like anxiety and stress. Because of caryophyllene’s ability to bind to CB2 receptors in the brain, the terpene may have potentially beneficial effects on short-term and long-term brain health and mental well-being.
Furthermore, Chocolope’s acute sense of focus can also prove effective for those with attention deficit disorders like ADHD.
How to Grow Chocolope Seeds
Available from MGS in both regular and feminised seeds, Chcolope displays some growing idiosyncrasies that can make it a little challenging to cultivate. As you might expect though, this near-pure sativa strains grows very tall, making indoor cultivation somewhat tricky due to potential limitations with space. However, a little bending and pruning of the stems early in the vegetative stage can negate this concern.
While an outdoor environment will provide the necessary space for cultivation, this strain is susceptible to mould, meaning that growers will need to keep a keen eye on growing conditions, particularly in more humid climates.
Not the quickest to grow, Chocolope cannabis seeds offer a flowering time of around 10 to 12 weeks from germination. If grown outdoors, Chocolope is ready for harvest in late October or early November, and while the wait is long, growers will be reward with a bountiful crop pushing 500 gr/m2 of a truly outstanding sativa cultivar.
