Home to sin city Las Vegas, one of the world´s most popular tourist destinations, Nevada has joined the growing list of U.S states to introduce legalised recreational and medical cannabis. With millions of visitors each year, Las Vegas is known as the city where anything goes – But what about marijuana and growing cannabis seeds?
Cannabis law in Nevada
Following the legalisation of cannabis in Nevada back in 2016, the state has become a cannabis hotbed with legal sales reaching a staggering $69200000 for 2019 alone.
Having first legalised the use of medical marijuana in 2000, Nevada followed Washington, Oregon, and California, in November of 2016 in becoming the fourth U.S state to legalize recreational cannabis for all persons 21 and older (anyone aged between 18 and 21 requires a valid cannabis card or if a guardian signs a Minor Release Form).
It is legal to have up to 1oz of cannabis in your possession and while the state is known as one of the most liberal when it comes to cannabis laws, smoking in public remains entirely prohibited so no sneaky smokes between casinos!
Can I Grow Cannabis in Nevada?
For those residing in Nevada, it is possible to grow cannabis seeds ordered from your favourite seed bank! However, there are some rules you need to be aware of before you start growing marijuana seeds in Nevada.
In order to grow marijuana in Nevada, you must live more than 25 miles from the nearest cannabis dispensary. This being the case, adults over the age of 21 can grow up to six plants per person in a secure, private place, with up to 12 plants permitted per household.
Other restrictions include that the plant must not be outwardly visible from a public place while a security device protecting the growing operation is also required.
