Where to buy marijuana seeds in Arizona

The state of Arizona first legalized the use of medical marijuana in 2010, but what are the current laws regarding both recreational usage and cultivation within the state?

Despite sharing a border with cannabis-friendly Colorado, Arizona has a reputation for having some of the countries strictest cannabis laws despite increased access during the last 10 years.

Let’s take a closer look at the current state of cannabis law in Arizona

Cannabis Law in Arizona

Arizona took the first steps to cannabis legality back in 2010 with the legalisation of medicinal marijuana, however, the laws surrounding its medicinal application remain somewhat confusing.

At present, marijuana is only available for medical purposes, provided you meet at least one of the states qualifying conditions. Even then, you will require a medical marijuana card. Only once this has been obtained, is it possible to purchase cannabis from one of the states licensed dispensaries.

However, despite medical access, In the years that have followed since Arizona voted in favour of medicinal cannabis, little progress has been made with respect to recreational usage with voters narrowly rejecting a 2016 proposal to fully legalise the plant at the state level.

How much marijuana can you legally possess in Arizona?

Unless you have a valid medical marijuana ID card issued by a cannabis doctor (a licensed M.D., D.O., M.D.(H), or N.D. from Arizona), the answer is zero.

If you do have a medical marijuana card, possession of up to 2.5 ounces every two weeks is permitted.

Can I Grow Cannabis in Arizona?

Under the existing law, it is only possible to grow cannabis in Arizona under two conditions – It must be for medical use and growers must live more than 25 miles from the nearest medical dispensary.

If both of those conditions are met, medical marijuana patients may grow up to 12 cannabis plants. The plants must be grown in an “enclosed, locked facility,”. This law defines this to be a “closet, room, greenhouse, or other enclosed area equipped with locks or security devices that permit access only by a cardholder.”. Marijuana plants must not be visible to members of the general public.

In addition, you will also need the ADHS (Arizona Department of Health Services) to designate you as a medical cannabis cultivator.
